DAIWA ACE

DAIWA ACE (Structure diagram of filtration system operation)

What is DAIWA ACE?

This is a floating bed filtration system that uses floating filter media made from a special foamed resin. It can perform microfiltration and biofilm filtration simultaneously. By adjusting the filtration speed and contact time, a single unit can perform two functions: microfiltration for the purpose of removing blue-green algae, and biofilm filtration for the purpose of improving water quality. Furthermore, it requires a compact installation space.

Please see the before treatment / after filtration photos. Raw water = before, treated water = after. The cloudy water has been upgraded to clear water.

DAIWA ACE has also been adopted in parks in Tokyo, where it has been proven to be a safe water filtration system for the birds and small animals that visit the parks.

Features of DAIWA ACE

  • Uses floating filter media made of foamed resin (upward flow type)
  • Backwashing is done by aeration.
  • Large contact area per volume.
  • It can be used for a wide range of water treatment, including biological filtration and microfiltration.

Advantages of DAIWA ACE

  • Simply replenish worn filter media. No need to replace filter media.
  • Less backwash water.
  • The facility has a compact footprint.
  • Even with a fast flow rate, it is less likely to clog and can treat large volumes of water.

The effectiveness of DAIWA ACE was proven in an environmental technology demonstration test conducted by the Ministry of the Environment (announced in 2014).

環境省による環境技術実証試験写真
  • Verification number: 080-1301
  • Demonstration period: November 2013
  • Location: Tokyo, Imperial Palace Outer Garden Moat, Moat Water Purification Facility
  • Turbidity, a verification item, was improved from a raw water concentration of 42 degrees to a treated water concentration of 7 degrees.
  • Achieved the target value of "turbidity below 10 degrees" and demonstrated removal efficiency of 86%.

* Glossary: The Environmental Technology Demonstration Project is a project in which a third-party organization demonstrates the environmental conservation effects of environmental technologies and publishes the results on the Ministry of the Environment's website to support the spread of environmental technologies. As mentioned above, demonstration experiments conducted by public institutions have also produced results.

This is an example of an installation at Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park in Minato Ward, Tokyo. The park has an artificial waterfall, and the water flows into a stream and then into a pond. DAIWA ACE has been in use as a water purification device at Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park for over 20 years.

DAIWA ACE was featured in the industry paper!

DAIWA ACE:A water purification system using microfiltration and biomembrane filtration

Daiwa Industry Co., Ltd. has developed the "DAIWA ACE" microfiltration and biomembrane filtration system, which can simultaneously remove suspended solids, organic matter, and eutrophication components from water that cause water pollution. The key point is that it uses a special, environmentally friendly, floating resin filter media.

We were given an overview of the purification system developed by Daiwa Industry Co., Ltd., and some implementation examples. We are currently proposing the sustainable "DAIWA ACE" to various water purification facilities.

We will continue to do our best to contribute to society as a partner in water treatment technology.
